Topic: Biotoxin Illness
Course Information:
How often do you enter a building or spend the day at home, especially this past year? According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the average American spends 87% of life indoors and 6% in cars leaving 7% of life outdoors. The EPA has also found the indoor pollutants are 2 to 5 times greater than the outside pollutants. As more and more hours are spent inside, these pollutants effect more people with health issues. One of the pollutants to be concerned about is mold.
We’re all familiar with mold. You may have wiped it off your bathroom sink, found it on an old leather coat in the back of your closet, or seen it in your shower. But there’s another type of mold—one that lurks behind the walls, in air ducts, and in crawl spaces that can wreak havoc with your brain health. This type of black mold (Stachybotrys) is actually a toxin that releases toxic gas and spores into the air. When the toxins are inhaled or enter your body through your skin’s pores, the toxic gases can disrupt healthy brain function and impact behavior.
Exposure to toxic mold is becoming more common, in part due to construction trends. Homes in America are typically constructed using wood and drywall, where mold thrives. Even worse, did you know that half of the buildings in the United States—schools, hotels, and more—may be water damaged? This makes them prime breeding grounds for mold.
In fact, mold and mycotoxins are at the root of many chronic illnesses and immune dysfunction. Too many people suffer with mystery illnesses FOR YEARS only to be told, “just take these meds.” And they STILL don’t feel well!
Mycotoxins are part of a group of Biotoxins; substances that are biological in nature but toxic to humans. For numerous reasons molds poses a threat to certain populations and without the proper support, your client’s health will spiral out of control. There are key nutritional inventions that can help improve one’s health, but without knowing the proper assessment, testing and protocols, you may miss the root issue and your client may degrade even more!
Mold is not the end of the story. Although people spend 7% of their time outdoors Lyme disease has been on the rise and many of the people with mold illness also have Lyme disease and vice versa. Mycotoxins and Lyme biotoxins are both proving to be a silent crisis and the medical community is only just now realizing how bad they are.
There is a lack of clinicians, especially nutritionists/dietitians trained to help those with Biotoxin Illness. Diet is an important aspect of Support, but there is much more, like having the resources to steer your clients to the right medical and remediation experts, without which optimal outcomes cannot be ensured!
Having the knowledge and expertise to help individuals that have one or both conditions will bring your nutrition practice to the next level. The information in this class will bridge the gap in your knowledge of proper assessment, building remediation, and customized support with nutritional and lifestyle intervention.
